In the Land of Monsoon Wind

Let me ask —are you with your children?

Does the new world of trees,

                   In your life, bewitch you?

Have you no spare time, none anymore?

In the old river the broken moon stays afloat…

As if a lunatic one gave us

                           This universe of tears,

As he did the other day.

It takes stamina to get there again.

Well, finding her way,

The monsoon wind does come here…

And where  men are migrant and dead,

              We only meet via rain.

Translated by Bankim Let from the Bengali poem,'Mousumi Bayur Deshe'
